Treasure Cay, Abaco is a hidden gem in the Bahamas!
This little piece of paradise is just an hour away from Fort Lauderdale. We decided to fly with Tropic Ocean Airways on their scheduled service every Mondays and Fridays, and after a memorable experience with their reservations team I knew my family was in good hands.
On the day of our flight we were greeted at Sheltair Aviation’s front door by a very friendly guest service representative, who then guided us to a private lounge. Our check in process was really easy going and took about 15 minutes for my family of four.
While we waited for our flight to depart we were given refreshments and reading material, I immediately turned on vacation mode. A few minutes later we boarded the plane, as one pilot taxied the plane, another pilot went over the standard flight procedures with the guests. On every seat we were given a snack and a refreshment, which I thought was a nice touch.
As we flew over the pilot let us know what islands we were passing and gave us a brief history on them, I was able to get some great pictures of Grand Bahama Island and West End. When we arrived at the Treasure Cay Beach, Marina & Golf Resort, I was very impressed with the attentive customer service and room conditions, they were clean and the view was breath taking.
The locals were great at recommending some spots to take the kids, one that really stuck with them was this gorgeous blue hole across from Green Turtle’s Ferry. Another one was the infamous swimming pigs, they were very friendly for being wild and they loved the carrots and apples we fed them.
Our all-time favorite part of the trip was going out snorkeling with Brendel’s Dive Center, we saw dolphins an assortment of fish, and this beautiful loggerhead turtle that had a personality out of this world.
Overall we had an amazing vacation, the kids were happy, we were able to get some life lasting photos and priceless memories.
